A major garda checkpoint operation is underway in one area of Ireland this week.
Gardai will be manning "multi-agency" checkpoints on roads across Waterford along with inspectors from RSA, Customs Office and Social Welfare.
The initiative is part of Operation Storm, which was launched to prevent crime, disrupt criminal activity, arrest criminals wanted on warrant and enhance Garda relations with the public.
Checkpoints will be in place in both the city and the county, with the aim of targeting "road traffic, crime and drug offences".
On Monday, the first day of the operation, gardai in Waterford seized two vehicles for contravening road safety rules as they had no NCT or insurance.
The checkpoint also discovered a vehicle with a bald tyre that had to be replaced.
An Garda social media account announced the operation today, writing: "Operation Storm takes place in Waterford Division this week, which will see a targeted deployment of AGS resources.
"There will be multi agency traffic checkpoints throughout Waterford City and County. We will be targeting road traffic, crime and drug offences, assisted by our colleagues in Customs, RSA and Social Welfare.
"We will also have information stands through out the county offering Crime [Prevention] Advice. This will culminate in our National Community Engagement Day in partnership with the IFA and partners on Wednesday 27th April.
"Two vehicles impounded this morning for road traffic offences in Waterford City."
