Gardai carry out searches in connection with Tom Niland attack as Sligo pensioner fights for his life

Gardai investigating the aggravated burglary and assault on Tom Niland have been carrying out searches near his Sligo home on Sunday.

The 73-year-old remains on life support after he was critically injured in the attack last month.

He was watching television at his home in Skreen on January 18 when three masked men forced their way into his home and viciously assaulted him at around 7pm.
