Gardai arrested three men today in relation to the death of a young man following a serious assault in Co Kildare on August 21, 2022.
Dylan McCarthy, aged in his 20s, was found unresponsive at the scene in Monasterevin and was rushed to Tallaght University Hospital where he passed away on the afternoon of Monday, August 22, 2022.
Gardai and emergency services had arrived on the scene shortly after 12.30am on Sunday, August 21 following reports of an altercation involving a group of people at the entrance of a premises.
A second man, aged in his 50s, had to be transferred to Tallaght University Hospital from the scene for treatment of serious injuries.
Gardai had recently renewed their appeal for witnesses in relation to the attack.
All of the men arrested were in their early 20s and are being held at multiple garda stations in the eastern county under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson confirmed: “As part of the ongoing investigation into the incident of serious assault in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare on the 21st August 2022, Gardaí have arrested three men, today Tuesday 6th September 2022.
“The men, all aged in their early 20s are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at multiple Garda Stations in Co. Kildare.”
