A man has been arrested after a daytime armed robbery at a shop on one of Dublin's most popular shopping streets.
The incident happened at a premises on Grafton Street at around 3.20pm on Wednesday.
A man entered the store armed with a weapon and threatened staff.
He then left the shop on foot after taking a number of items.
Gardai subsequently carried out a follow-up search whereby they arrested a man aged in his early 40s and also recovered several of the stolen goods.
He was taken to Pearse Street Garda station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardai in Pearse Street have arrested one man following an armed robbery that occurred at a business premises on Grafton Street, Dublin 2 on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th February, 2022.
"At approximately 3.20pm yesterday afternoon a lone male entered the business premises on Grafton Street armed with a weapon and threatened the staff members.
"He left the scene on foot with a number of items from the premises.
"In a follow up search Gardaí arrested one man (early 40s) and a number of items stolen from the premises were located.
"He was taken to Pearse Street Garda station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"The investigation is ongoing."
