Gardaí have charged a driver in Drogheda after they were pulled over for a serious law break last week.
The Roads Policing Unit were out on patrol on the M1 and as they were approaching junction 14, they spotted a driver travelling at 181 km/h - 61 km/h over the limit.
Gardaí immediately pulled the motorist over and found smoke billowing out of each wheel due to the sheer speed at which they were driving.

The driver was arrested at the scene and was charged with dangerous driving. They are due to stand in court in the coming weeks to receive their penalty.
In a post on Twitter, a Garda spokesperson said: “Drogheda RPU detected this vehicle travelling at 181 km/h on the M1 near junction 14 recently.
“When Gardaí stopped the driver, all four wheels were smoking from the heat generated by his speed.
“The driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.
“Court to follow.”
In Ireland, the punishment if found guilty of dangerous driving, you could be fined up to €5000, or be sent to prison for up to 6 months, or both.
If you are convicted of dangerous driving causing death or serious bodily harm, you could be fined up to €20,000 and imprisoned for up to 10 years, or both.
