Garda appealing for witnesses after two pedestrians die in separate road collisions in Dublin

An Garda Siochana are urging for witnesses of two separate fatal road traffic collisions in Dublin to come forward.

Both incidents involved a vehicle and a pedestrian and took place between 7pm and 7:15pm yesterday.

Gardai are investigating two fatal collisions that took place in Tallaght and Summerhill on Wednesday, January 11.

The first of which took place on Summerhill Parade in Dublin 1.

A man in his 40s was brought to the Mater Hospital following a collision with a car. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Dublin 1 yesterday, Wednesday 11th January, 2023.

"At approximately 7:00pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred on Summerhill Parade.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was brought to the Mater Hospital to be treated for his injuries where he was later pronounced dead."

Another incident occurred in Tallaght shortly after, when a 23-year-old man was hit by an SUV on the N81 in Tallaght.

He was treated at the scene but was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in the Dublin City Morgue.

Following the incident, an examination of the crash site was carrired out, but the road has now fully re-opened to traffic.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 40s, did not require hospital treatment.

Gardai looking into both incidents said: “Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

“They are also appealing to those with camera footage (including dashcam) from the area at the time, to make it available to them.”
