The Two Cities Are Not the Same Event
Vadodara's Garba is older in its civic identity and more spread across neighbourhood grounds, each with its own committee. Ahmedabad runs on a more consolidated model, with a handful of mega-venues, GMDC, Sindhu Bhavan Road, and the grounds near the riverfront, drawing crowds that the Gujarat Tourism figures consistently place above two lakh on peak nights. Both cities have been listed in the Guinness World Records for the world's largest Garba, which tells you something about scale and nothing about which one suits a first-time visitor. Vadodara is more likely to put you inside a circle where the person next to you has been dancing since childhood. Ahmedabad is more likely to give you a seat in a tiered stand and a view of something spectacular.
