Gang that duped people in name of ayurvedic treatment busted in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has busted a gang of criminals who allegedly used to cheat people on the pretext of providing them government loans and facilitating their treatment at Patanjali Yogpeeth. More than 150 people had registered similar complaints with Patanjali Yogpeeth, senior police officers said.

The two arrested men have been identified as Gautam Kumar (22) and his associate Bittu Kumar (21), both from Bihar.

With their arrest, the police have managed to freeze Rs nine lakh of the cheated money in 72 different accounts and recovered 63 ATM/debit cards, 15 cheque books and 17 passbooks along with 10 mobile phones and 54 SIM cards used in the crime.

The cheating came to light when one Anil Mutreja filed a police complaint after being duped via a fake website. "He said the accused had sent him several photographs of the facility as well as packages for stay and treatment. Mutreja then transferred Rs 1.2 lakh in their account, only to realise that he has been duped," said a senior police officer.
