A woman who lives near to where a man was shot said she heard a 'gang of lads making threats' moments before the incident.
Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO that a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being shot on The Green, Broadgreen at around 9pm on January 16.
The man in his 20s was taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest and arms and is in a stable condition.

Today an extensive cordon was in place around The Green and a piece of field known locally as Rocket Green.
Forensics and police search teams from three Matrix vans could be seen on Monday morning combing areas of grass in Rocket Green.
Merseyside Police later confirmed there were additional cordons in place on Queen's Drive, Domville Road and Binns Road - and were treating all scenes as linked to The Green.
Police search teams were later spotted in a cordoned-off car park next to a block of flats on Domville Road.
At The Green, a resident who lived near to the shooting told the ECHO there were large groups of lads on bikes around the area.
The neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "There were lads on bikes around and then there were altercations and threats made.
"This all started around 8pm - we just got into the house.
"I didn't know what happened before that - there was just groups of lads who were starting to come up and down, some on bikes and others on foot.
"It's not a bad area but lads dressed in black on bikes use it as a bit of a rat run."
Another resident told an ECHO reporter at the scene the area is generally "very quiet" but groups of teenagers tend to gather in the underpass under Queens Drive.
He said: "There's always trouble in the subway. They like to come on the field and steal bins and set fire to them.
"They're out there most nights, dressed all in black."
Residents on The Green could enter and leave their property as they pleased, as long as they notified police.
But all visitors were turned away and police Matrix vans blocked any cars from driving up and down.
It's the second large police cordon at The Green in as many months, after the body of Malak Adabzadeh was found in a flat in November.
Her husband appeared in court in December charged with murder.
Merseyside Police said they had begun their investigations into Sunday's shooting and extensive forensic, house-to-house enquiries and CCTV were underway.
The police also appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson said: "We are in the early stages of an investigation into a shooting in Broadgreen yesterday which has left a man seriously injured.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the Broadgreen area yesterday evening who witnessed the incident, or saw anything or anyone suspicious to come forward, as any information you have could be vital to our enquiries.
"Similarly if you were driving at the Broadgreen end of Queen’s Drive and have dashcam footage please review it and let us know.
"In recent months we have seen a downturn in shootings on Merseyside. To have such success, it is absolutely vital that we get all information from those communities who feel the impact of gun crime, so we can bring those responsible to justice.
"Speak to us directly or anonymously and we will take swift action to remove dangerous weapons and those who use them from our streets."
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 22000037155.
