Gang of burglars busted in Noida, 2 held

NOIDA: With an arrest of two persons on Thursday, Noida police claim to have busted a gang of burglars who would break into closed bungalows in sectors of Noida and flee with valuables. Police have recovered stolen items worth Rs 10 lakh from their possession.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Raju Mandal, a native of district Nadiya in West Bengal, and Sachin from Hardoi district. Both these persons were wanted for nearly half a dozen cases of robbery, burglary, and other criminal incidents.

Noida’s additional deputy commissioner of police Ashutosh Dwivedi stated that three months ago, a case was registered as the miscreants had committed a burglary in a house in Sector 46 of Noida. “On May 9, a house robbery was reported from Sector 46 and a case was registered at Sector 39 police station following which a probe was initiated. Our teams were continuously working to track the miscreants. On Thursday, both the criminals were arrested from near a Mother Dairy depot in Sector 99,” said Dwivedi.

The accused have been booked under sections 454 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 380 (Commits theft in any building) and 411 (Dishonestly receiving stolen property) of IPC.

“Both the accused were members of a gang of robbers. They would roam around the sector and identify empty houses. At night, they would barge into the house by breaking the locks and quickly steal valuables,” Dwivedi added.Police have recovered Rs 90,000, 125 gm gold, electronic gadgets, a motorcycle, 175 foreign currency coins, and two illegal countrymade pistols with four cartridges from their possession.“The valuables and ornaments stolen during the burglary were kept at Sachin’s rented house in Sector 100. They feared getting caught so did not sell these items,” Dwivedi stated.

The two were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
