Just as the real world of Formula One constantly changes and evolves, its video game counterpart has taken a huge leap forward this year- mainly due to EA now sitting in the driver’s seat after taking over Codemasters.
As you would expect with EA , this new incarnation of the F1 games has everything a petrol head could ask for, with brand new car physics, handling and tyre models adding to the realism on show - even down to the regulation changes implemented into the sport.
Gameplay is noticeably different to last year’s F1 21 , with the cars feeling far more sharper in the turns and the lower base providing more jolt thanks to changes to the suspension dynamics. Different cars also provide a different driving experience.
There are a number of new features which only add to the scope and scale of the game, one being Supercars , which gives gamers a chance to race round in non-F1 cars, but the main feature is the F1 Life , a new social player hub that players can fully customise. it also acts as a multiplayer lobby.
Players can unlock fashion items for their avatar, home items like carpets and lights, and the social hub also shows off supercars that players have unlocked.
This ‘ FIFA -mode’ style is EA’s biggest change from Codemasters .
With new gameplay dynamics and superb graphics - playing in VR is also massive fun - F1 22 is the biggest and most realistic F1 game there has ever been.
●Rating - 4 out of 5.
