Brisbane coach Kevin Walters says he regards the controversial comments by five-eighth Tyson Gamble on a recent podcast as "a real positive".
Gamble, who is set to link with Newcastle next year, was asked on a podcast three weeks ago about the influence halfback Adam Reynolds had on the team.
He said Reynolds was "the mastermind" around the Broncos attack and the veteran half was "the go-to man for everybody".
"If you have a question about footy or the team, you go to him. It's not a knock on Kev but Reyno' has been around for so long," Gamble said.
"Kevvie' really understands footy and he's a good bloke in getting the team up and about, but the modern day is so different to the way Kevvie played footy."
Reynolds told Triple M's Rush Hour program in Brisbane he was embarrassed by Gamble's comments and were "out of line", but insisted the playmaker did not mean any harm.
"I just rang Tyson to get his side of the story and he knew straight away he had stuffed up," Reynolds said.
"Tyson is a lovely human being and he is never going out there to hurt anyone's feelings."
Walters spoke to reporters ahead of the Broncos clash with St George Illawarra in Sydney on Saturday, which they must win to have any chance of playing finals, about Gamble's comments.
"I think it is a real positive because one of the reasons we brought Adam Reynolds here (from South Sydney) was to share his knowledge amongst players, staff and everybody ... and he's doing that," Walters said.
"I got coached by Wayne Bennett for 10 years and it wasn't just him I got information from.
"I am not frustrated by (Gamble's comments). I am all about the Broncos and getting our team moving in the right direction and Tyson is a part of that. We need him at his best.
"It is a great opportunity for us to head to Sydney and finish the season off well."
Walters said he had spoken with Gamble to clear the air and he was sure his comments were all about praising Reynolds' role rather than disparaging the coach.
The Broncos have made two late changes to their side to play the Dragons with Cook Islands international Brendan Piakura coming into the 17 to replace second-rower Jordan Riki, who has an eye complaint.
Forward Corey Jensen has COVID and will be replaced on the bench by Rhys Kennedy.
Back-rower Zac Hosking moves from the bench to the starting lineup.
