Galway vs Tyrone: Team news as Red Hands make one change for Tribesmen test

Tyrone managers Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher have made one change to their starting line-up ahead of Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC Round One tie with Galway in Pearse Stadium.

Former Football of the Year Kieran McGeary is replaced by Joe Oguz in the only switch from last month’s last-gasp Ulster SFC quarter-final loss to Monaghan in Omagh.

Niall Kelly, Aidan Clarke and Sean O’Donnell are included in the match-day 26 at the expense of Nathan McCarron, Rory Donnelly and Cathal McShane.

Galway manager Pádraic Joyce has also opted to make one change for Saturday’s game with Paul Conroy starting at midfield in place of Rob Finnerty.

Last season’s beaten All-Ireland finalists retained the Connacht title with a facile 2-20 to 0-12 win over Sligo in Castlebar with Matthew Tierney hitting 2-7.

The Tribesmen also defeated Tyrone by three points when the sides met in Tuam in round three of the Allianz Football League.

The other first round tie in Group Two sees Armagh host Westmeath at the Box-It Athletic Grounds next Saturday. The top team in each group will progress straight through to the quarter-finals while the teams finishing in second and third will go into the preliminary quarter-finals.

Tyrone: Niall Morgan; Michael McKernan, Ronan McNamee, Padraig Hampsey; Conor Meyler, Cormac Quinn, Peter Harte; Brian Kennedy, Conn Kilpatrick; Frank Burns, Michael O'Neill, Joe Oguz; Darren McCurry, Matthew Donnelly, Darragh Canavan.

Galway: Connor Gleeson; Johnny McGrath, Sean Kelly, Jack Glynn; Dylan McHugh, John Daly, Cillian McDaid; Paul Conroy, John Maher; Matthew Tierney, Johnny Heaney, Peter Cooke; Ian Burke, Damien Comer, Shane Walsh.
