Motorists were backed up for miles after a car went on fire with a mother and baby inside on the outskirts of Galway City.
Massive traffic jams were seen on Headford Road on Sunday evening, May 28 after a car caught fire at around 7:20pm.
Personnel from various emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident as images displayed fire engines battling the blaze by Terryland Retail Park, Galway Beo reports.

A witness to the incident told Galway Beo that the mother and her child managed to get free of the car before any injuries were inflicted following the blaze.
They said: "Traffic backed up in all directions, fire service attended rapidly. Only freeing up now,, happened about 7 20pm.
"Mother and child escaped in midst of heavy traffic anyway."
