Galway are sweating on the fitness of Sean Kelly, Damien Comer and Dylan McHugh ahead of their All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final encounter with Mayo at Salthill.
It’s do-or-die in Pearse Stadium this Sunday with one of these fierce Connacht rivals set to bow out of the Championship in what is the biggest game of the year to date.
Inspirational skipper Kelly limped off injured at the end of last weekend’s one point defeat by Armagh after sustaining what appeared to be an ankle injury.

He was also on the receiving end of a strike to the face, which went unnoticed by referee Joe McQuillan and his team of match officials, but was circulated on social media yesterday.
GAA chiefs are meeting today with any disciplinary matters arising from the weekend on their agenda.
But with no card shown the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) have the option of asking the referee to look at the incident again.
Kelly is one of the top players in the country and showed his class again at the weekend, firing home a goal and winning a penalty, which was missed by Shane Walsh.
Wing back McHugh and talismanic full forward Comer played no part against Armagh at the weekend.
But with next weekend do or die, and featuring two of possibly the top four teams in the country, they could yet be pressed into action.
After the game Galway boss Padraic Joyce reported that both were carrying hamstring problems.
He also said it was “doubtful” they would have Comer or Kelly for next Sunday.
Kieran Molloy returned to club action recently with Corofin after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament last year, but it may be too soon for the defender to come into the equation.
Galway are also without All Star defender Liam Silke, who was working abroad this year.
