Galway store's perfect response after man smashes window and runs away

A shop in Galway has left the perfect reply for a man who smashed their window and showed up outside their door apologising.

Staff at Little Collins CBD Dispensary on Abbeygate Street, an Irish company that was opened in 2018 by the husband-and-wife team, JP O’Brien and Ide Clancy, were left shocked when they discovered one of their shop windows had been broken on Friday morning, April 21.

CCTV footage later showed a man running head-first towards the shop, which sells Hemp-derived products including Hemp flowers, hitting the front windows and, as a result, breaking the glass.

The man is then seen getting up and running away along with other people, GalwayBeo reports.

Now, after the man showed up on their doorstep with 'no recollection' of what happened, the shop has issued an update on how things played out.

In a post on social media, the shop wrote: "Fair play to this young man it must be said - fronted up to our shop the following week, had no recollection of the event, admitted he'd messed up and offered to pay for the damage! Next time, just have a spliff bro..."

The shop wrote along the video: "Galway City, 2:30am this morning, our shopfront windows. Reminder: alcohol is perfectly legal, cannabis is the devil's lettuce. Give me strength!"

After the incident occurred, workers at the shop covered the window up with cardboard and black bags until permanent repairs can be made as pictures show the aftermath of the incident.

At the time a garda spokesperson confirmed to GalwayBeo that investigations were ongoing.

They said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a business premises in Galway city on Friday, April 21 2023. Investigations are ongoing at this time."
