Galway crash victim Lukas Joyce, 14, will be buried a day after his friend Kirsty Bohan

The second teenage victim of the Bank Holiday crash involving four students will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Lukas Joyce (14) from Farmstown, Corrandulla, will be laid to rest in Annaghdown cemetery following requiem mass at noon in St Brendan’s Church, Annaghdown.

On Friday his classmate Kirsty Bohan, also 14, will be laid to rest at Donaghpatrick in Headford on Friday following her funeral mass at the Church of St Patrick and Cuana at 12 noon.

Two other pupils of Presentation College Headford, a 14-year old girl and a 13-year old boy, are being treated in hospital for multiple injuries.

Gardai are continuing their investigations into the single vehicle accident which happened just outside Headford around 5.45am on Monday morning when the car the four teenagers were travelling in collided with a tree.

The north Galway town of Headford and surrounding areas is preparing for the funerals later in the week.

Kirsty Bohan, from Ballyfruit close to where the single vehicle accident happened at 5.45am on Monday morning, is survived by her parents Christy and Theresa, and her sisters Martha and Ava, who are also students at Presentation College Headford.

She will repose at Ryders Funeral Home in Headford this Thursday from 4pm to 7pm.

The second year student will be laid to rest in Donaghpatrick Cemetery following her requiem mass the Church of St Patrick and Cuana at 12 noon.

Lukas Joyce, who is survived by his parents Joe and Neringa, his grandparents in Lithuania, Vitas and Zita Kelmeliene, aunt and uncles, will repose at Corrandulla Mortuary Chapel on Friday afternoon from 3- 6pm.

His funeral mass will take place at 12 noon on Saturday at St Brendan’s Church in Annaghdown and he will be buried afterwards in the local cemetery.

The principal of the school in Galway where two teenagers killed in the horror Easter Monday crash attended has spoken about the loss of two "treasured" students.

Tragic Second Year students Kirsty Bohan, 14, and Lukas Joyce, 14, died after a car they were travelling in collided with a tree on the outskirts of Headford shortly before 6am on the bank holiday Monday.

The acting principal of the school both Kirsty and Lukas attended described the two students as "beautiful young people" who had a "huge circle of friends".

Speaking to RTE News, acting principal of Presentation College Headford, Orla Jackson said: “They loved school, both of them, and we loved their presence in our school.

"They were very treasured members of our school community. They had a huge circle of friends.

"We as a team knew them very well to see on the corridor because they were two particularly pleasant and smiling youngsters and their faces are imprinted in my brain.

"They were beautiful young people with a future in front of them that unfortunately has been cut short and that is the real tragedy here."

Presentation College opened on Tuesday for a three-hour period to offer support to students following the tragedy.

In pictures uploaded by Presentation College Headford - candles were lit in front of photos of the tragic youngsters inside their school.

In a statement, the school said: "We have lost two treasured members of our school community and two other members of our community are injured. We pray for all the families and friends of those involved that they may be granted some peace and succour at this tragic time.

"We also pray for our own school community, that we may find the strength to support each other and carry on. We ask for your support, prayers and the space to grieve as a school community."
