Galway captain Sean Kelly allowed to play in All-Ireland semi-final after successful appeal

Galway have been boosted by news that Sean Kelly has been cleared to play in their All-Ireland semi-final clash with Derry next weekend.

The Galway captain's appeal against a one-match suspension, which was handed down after he was sent off following the brawl that broke out during the Tribesmen's win over Armagh, has been successful.

The appeal was heard by the Central Hearings Committee on Friday night after the Central Competitions Control Committee handed down the ban.

Confirming the appeal had been successful, Galway GAA said in a statement: "Galway GAA can confirm that following tonight’s Hearing, Seán Kelly will be available for selection for the All-Ireland Senior Football Semi-Final v Derry on Saturday week."
