Galway's newest tech giant Poly has celebrated 53 years of the Moon Landing by highlighting the pivotal role their technology played in the historic mission.
The month of July marks the 53rd anniversary of the first human landing on the moon – when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins made history.
Though Irish media will be aware of both Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins’ Emerald Isle heritage in Fermanagh and West Cork – there's another Irish connection that came to light recently.

One of the latest communications giants to set up a base in Ireland, Poly were instrumental in the transmission of Neil Armstrong’s iconic words: “This is one small Step for Man, and one giant leap for mankind.”
His voice was transmitted back to earth through a Poly (previously Plantronics and Polycom) headset, their revolutionary first aerospace product, the MS50.
Fast forward to over 50 years later, and Poly continues to dominate this ‘space’ with its out of this world technical solutions to the ever-changing work and employment landscape.
According to a recent statement, their own mission is simple and has remained the same since the 1960’s: To create amazing new ways to work and, most importantly, collaborate in the increasingly digital world.
Through their Galway offices in Crown Square, Poly are bringing their innovative approach to work and office culture to the West of Ireland, and they’re currently recruiting across a number of roles.
In celebration of their contribution to a pivotal moment in history below is information providing further insights into both the Moon Landing and their contribution throughout the years to critical communication – and how they continue to pioneer this today through offices in Galway and internationally.
