The ninth edition of "Galleries' Nights" will turn the City of Angels into a festive and friendly open museum for two nights on Friday and Saturday from 5pm until late at night.
Held under the theme "Now" by the Embassy of France with the aim to bring people back to galleries and art after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is a unique chance to appreciate artworks of various genres at night at more than 70 galleries and art spaces in Bangkok.
The event is divided into two routes. Up to 42 art venues located along Silom and Sathon roads and by the Chao Phraya River will participate on Friday. Then, art lovers are invited to discover more art inspirations at 29 galleries located around Ari Samphan in Pathumwan district, and along Sukhumvit Road on Saturday.
The galleries are accessible through the help of about 60 dedicated tuk-tuks, by the BTS Skytrain and taxis, or even walking from one gallery to another. Visitors can design their artistic journey by using printed maps that will be available in galleries on the day of the event. Interactive maps are also presented at galleriesnights.com.
There will also be a sister event called "Galleries' Nights Bangsaen", which will take place at 38 different venues including cafes, bars, hotels, galleries and public spaces in Chon Buri for two weeks from Nov 25 to Dec 5 from midday to midnight.
"Galleries' Nights" is inspired by "La Nuit Blanche" (or Sleepless Night), an event in Paris where museum and art spaces stay open all night long.
