Galatasaray vs Tottenham LIVE! Europa League result, match stream and latest updates today

Tottenham’s perfect Europa League start ended as they lost 3-2 at Galatasaray on Thursday with Victor Osimhen scoring twice for the hosts and Will Lankshear netting his first goal for Spurs but also getting sent off.

Yunus Akgun gave Galatasaray the lead in the sixth minute with a stunning half-volley from distance but Spurs levelled 12 minutes later when Brennan Johnson's layoff across the goal left Lankshear with a simple tap-in.

Radu Dragusin was caught napping at the back in the 31st minute and was dispossessed by Mauro Icardi. The ball fell to Dries Mertens who slipped a pass to Osimhen and the Nigerian striker shot first time into the bottom corner.

Osimhen struck again six minutes from the break. Mertens floated a ball into the area and, between two defenders, the forward cushioned a volley past the keeper from just outside the six-yard box.

Lankshear received his second booking in seven minutes on the hour mark, but 10-man Tottenham pulled a goal back nine minutes later when substitute Dominic Solanke back-heeled Pedro Porro's cross into the net.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser but the loss, after winning their opening three games, left them on nine points, one behind undefeated Galatasaray.

Spurs player ratings: Maddison fails audition; Dragusin caught napping

20:01 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham dropped points in the Europa League for the first time this season as they were beaten 3-2 by Galatasaray in a wild game in Istanbul.

Yunus Agkun opened the scoring with an outstanding strike from 25 yards and Victor Osimhen scored twice before the interval.

Teenager Will Lankshear had levelled the game at 1-1 but was sent off for two bookable offences on the hour.

Gala saw two goals disallowed for offside and had enough chances to win the game by seven or eight goals but sub Dominic Solanke set up a nervous finish with a brilliant flicked finish for the ten-man visitors.

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players…

Taking off Son and Johnson at the break sends the message that Postecoglou is looking to Sunday's game against Ipswich. To be fair to the manager, he probably feels he has no choice but to protect his only fit wingers, with Richarlison, Werner, Odobert and Moore all sidelined tonight.

Osimhen’s brace has the hosts in a commanding position after a difficult opening 45 minutes for Spurs.

Standard Sport's Dan Kilpatrick

18:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

Spurs are getting what they deserve here. They've been sloppy in possession and slack in the press, allowing the hosts far too much time and space on the ball. Osimhen already had four golden chances and it's no surprise he's put two away.

Radu Dragusin chance could leave Ange Postecoglou with big decision

15:56 , Jonathan Gorrie

For the second season running, Tottenham have lost both first-choice centre-backs at the start of November, contributing to Ange Postecoglou's selection concerns for Thursday's Europa League game against Galatasaray.

Micky van de Ven suffered another hamstring strain against Manchester City last week, although not as serious as the injury which sidelined him for two months at the same stage of last season, to rule the Dutchman out until after the international break.

Galatasaray vs Tottenham: Europa League score prediction today

15:17 , Jonathan Gorrie

The hosts are in fine form this season and look like one of the more difficult tests for Spurs at this relatively early stage of the European season.

Postecoglou should opt to use a few more of his more experienced players for this one, especially with Ipswich at home in the league this coming Sunday.

Draw, 1-1.

Tottenham team news vs Galatasaray today

15:16 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham are short of defenders for tonight’s daunting Europa League clash against Galatasaray in Turkey.

With Ben Davies set to be needed at centre-back, Archie Gray is the obvious choice to fill in at left-back if Ange Postecoglou wants to rest Destiny Udogie. Neither Djed Spence nor Sergio Reguilon are eligible.

Udogie was supposed to have a night off in the Carabao Cup against Manchester City last mid-week but was called into action early following a hamstring injury for Micky van de Ven, which will keep him out until after the international break.
