The Melbourne Renegades will have first pick in the inaugural Big Bash League draft which has attracted more than 170 international signatures.
The order of selection was confirmed in two separate, weighted lotteries split between teams that did and didn't make last season's finals.
Faf du Plessis, Rashid Khan, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo are among the high-profile talent with their names in the hat for the August 28 draft that will be broadcast live on Fox Sports.
A stack of English T20 guns are set to join them while some big-name Pakistan additions are also expected as Cricket Australia looks to revamp the tournament to its former glory.
Players can nominate for the whole tournament or play only a portion of the competition in a move designed to entice star cameos in the crowded, big-money domestic schedule.
Players can nominate for one or all of the four-tier categories, with the most in-demand players receiving platinum status, followed by gold, silver and bronze.
Each category comes with a set payment regardless of the number of games a player can play, however players can nominate different availability for different categories.
Clubs also hold some power to retain an international who played for them last season courtesy of a retention pick.
Clubs must pass at least once in the four rounds and finish with at least two imports on their books.
"With a little over five weeks until the inaugural draft for overseas players, we are delighted to have locked in key details regarding the order of selections, date and broadcast details today," BBL boss Alistair Dobson said.
"The determination of the order of selections is also a significant development, providing certainty to key club staff including list managers and coaches as they refine their draft strategies.
"We look forward to working with clubs, players and agents worldwide to continue facilitating discussions to bring world-class talent to the KFC BBL."
Sixth-placed Melbourne Stars (one entry), seventh-placed Brisbane Heat (two entries) and wooden spooners Melbourne Renegades (three entries) were placed in the first lottery.
The Renegades pulled first to earn the first, ninth, 24th and 25th pick.
The Hurricanes, fifth last season, weren't so lucky in the second lottery.
Despite having five entries to champions Perth's one, the Hobart outfit was drawn last and will have the eighth selection - two choices later than the Scorchers' first pick at No.6.
The season, featuring 56 regular-season games and a five-game finals series, begins on December 13 and runs until the final on February 4.
