Gabriel Jesus posts another injury update as Arsenal prepare for West Ham Premier League clash

Gabriel Jesus has posted another injury update on social media site, Instagram.

Prior to his nation's exit in the quarter-finals, the Brazil star was ruled out for the remainder of the World Cup after suffering medial ligament damage against Cameroon in the group stages. He subsequently returned to London to undergo surgery before starting the rehabilitation process.

Now, for the second week running, he's provided an update on how things are going on his Instagram story. The 25-year-old said: "Second week is gone." The caption was accompanied with three emoji's celebrating the fact that he's got over another difficult hurdle. That being said, the image uploaded with the post shows that Jesus is still having to wear a knee brace. The date of when that's set to be removed is currently unknown.

Although it isn't overly insightful, it does suggest that the recovery is going well as things stand. Reports have suggested that he could be out for up to four months, so it's crucial that he does everything right in the buildup to a potential return.

Eddie Nketiah is set to lead the line in his absence, starting with the Gunners' first Premier League game for the best part of two months on Boxing Day. Arsenal host West Ham United in the late kick-off (8pm) at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have taken an impressive 37 points from a possible 42 so far this season, but with Jesus out, they're massively stretched at the top of the field. The pressure is now on Nketiah to come up with the goods before Edu and Co. attack the January market, with Mykhaylo Mudryk rumoured to be their priority target.
