'Gabriel Jesus is coming to Arsenal' as goal celebration generates brilliant transfer theory

Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal is a transfer rumour that has gathered momentum over the past week as plans begin to take shape ahead of what is expected to be an extremely busy summer window.

Signing a forward - or two - will be Gunners manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu's top priority this summer, which will serve as no surprise to supporters given Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are likely to depart when their contracts expire at the end of June.

As a result, a host of strikers have been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium including Darwin Nunez, Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Victor Osimhen, Patrik Schick, Tammy Abraham and Jonathan David. Although, it would appear that Jesus is the number one target for Arsenal at this point.

The good news is that football.london understands the Manchester City and Brazil forward is open to leaving the current Premier League champions this summer with his representative holding talks with Edu over the past few months. With that said, the 25-year-old is expected to get more minutes between now and the end of the season as City look to increase his potential transfer fee, with the Gunners expected to lodge a bid in the region of £35million.

Having scored five goals in the two games - four against Watford and one against Real Madrid - since reports of a move to the Emirates first became public knowledge, the north London outfit may have to increase their opening offer when it comes time for negotiations.

That is the general feeling amongst some Arsenal supporters on Reddit. However, others on Twitter have come up with a brilliant theory that Jesus' recent celebration - which is identical to Nketiah's as they both perform the 'telephone' goal celebration after finding the back of the net - is hinting that he will be joining the club this summer.

@fiskk_ said: "Gabriel Jesus copying Nketiah's celebration. He's coming", @ASpucciTaco said: "@gabrieljesus9 ringing up @EddieNketiah9, 'I’m coming to Arsenal'", and @TheAFCFranco said: "Nketiah & Gabriel Jesus have been calling each other this whole time."

Of course, Jesus' celebration had nothing to do with links to Arsenal as he has been celebrating his goals for club and country this way since 2017 and has even revealed the story behind it is that he is pretending to ring his mother. "It was a joke with my friends, a 'Hello, mother'," he said, as per the Manchester Evening News. "My friends know why. My mother knows too. It was a celebration for them."
