Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out of Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Monaco due to a knee injury.
The Brazilian misses out on the squad entirely and will be assessed by the club, with Eddie Nketiah leading the line in his absence for the Emirates Cup clash.
The injury scare to Jesus is a concern for Arsenal with the new season fast approaching, and comes just four days before Mikel Arteta’s side face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley. The Gunners then begin their Premier League campaign at home to Nottingham Forest on August 12.

Jesus missed a large chunk of last season after undergoing knee surgery to fix an issue picked up while playing for Brazil at the World Cup.
Nketiah gets the chance to push his case for more first-team involvement as a result of Jesus and fellow injured forward Folarin Balogun not being involved, with Arteta also handing the striker the captain’s armband in a surprise move.
Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel are all named on the bench against Monaco, with the Arsenal boss naming a team that suggests he has at least one eye on the Community Shield.
