Gabby Logan is 'careful' about what she posts online after Gary Lineker's BBC row

Gabby Logan has admitted that she now feels incredibly hesitant about posting her thoughts and opinions online, following Gary Lineker’s impartiality feud with the BBC.

The BBC sports presenter, 49, said that she is actively being much more 'careful' about what she says online after watching the controversial feud unfold earlier this month.

The TV star added that she also now deeply considers the 'repercussions' that could occur as a result of her speaking her mind and her truth, in both her professional and personal life.

Lineker was axed from his role as host of Match of the Day after he became embroiled in a debate over impartiality when he compared the language used to launch a new UK Government asylum policy to Germany in the 1930s.

Lineker said in a post on Twitter earlier this month: "There is no huge influx. We take far fewer refugees than other major European countries. This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s."

A couple of weeks on from the major controversy, Gabby spoke out about how she feels hesitant to speak her mind on matters important to her.

“You’ve got to be careful how you express yourself, I think about what I say," she told Daily Star.

“Like anybody else who works at the BBC, I think about what the repercussions are going to be.”

Gabby recalled seeing Gary having 'terrible things' said to him in response to his tweet, not only to him, but also to his family and his son who even received a death threat for supporting his own father.

Sports presenter Gabby went on to urge a warning against getting into confrontations with faceless' people online.

“Sometimes it’s easier not to say things on Twitter, because you enter into a debate with faceless people who you don’t know,” she said.

BBC was reinstated Gary as Match of The Day host (BBC)

“Gary knows that better than everybody. He gets terrible things said back to him.”

After several of Gary's co-hosts, fellow sports presenters, and famous friends stood in solidarity with him amid the crisis, the BBC reinstated Gary as Match of The Day host.
