GAA fans praise Mayo hero Tom Parsons as he stars on Laochra Gael

GAA fans were full of praise for Tom Parsons after the former Mayo midfielder's starring role on TG4's Laochra Gael.

The Charlestown Sarsfields man played a pivotal role in Mayo's run to successive All-Ireland finals in 2016 and 2017.

But, in the form of his life, Parsons suffered career-threatening injuries in a Connacht Championship match against Galway in 2018.

He showed all of his resilience to return to the Mayo senior side in 2020 before announcing his inter-county retirement in January 2021.

Parsons is now the CEO of the Gaelic Players Association and was reflecting on his storied career, which included two Connacht Championships, on TG4's Laochra Gael.

The latest episode of the popular series went down a treat with viewers, who praised the Mayo man.

One person said: "Tom Parsons. The embodiment of leadership, resilience and pride in the jersey. Left it all on the pitch."

Another said: "Tom Parsons deserved an All Ireland medal. He had it all, toughness, athleticism, great under the high ball, leadership & most of all, a magnificent head of hair.

"I bet he came out of the womb with that big mop of hair."

While someone else commented: "I said it before…but the injury this man came back from and to get back to Croke Park is testament to his character."

"What Tom Parsons went through in that Mayo jersey and he lived to tell the tale. A born survivor," another said.
