The GAA communities in Sligo and Kildare are in mourning following the death of 1975 Connacht Championship winner Francis (Frank) Henry.
Frank played for Shamrock Gaels in Coola before transferring to the Leixlip GAA Club, where he played and worked as an administrator for almost 40 years.
Paying tribute to him, Sligo GAA wrote: "The GAA community of Sligo was saddened last evening to hear of the passing of Francis (Frank) Henry, of Leixlip Co. Kildare and late of Whitehill, Riverstown.
"Frank was a member of Sligo GAA's 1975 Connacht championship winning side, and a shining star in the early years of the Shamrock Gaels calub before he transferred to the Leixlip GAA Club where he was at the heart of the club as a player and then as an Administrator for almost 40 years.
"We send our sincere condolences to his wife Anne, their children and their grandchildren. We send our sincere condolences also to the Henry family of Whitehill, his home place - a family that has given hugely to the community generally and to the GAA specifically."
