Carrie Johnson and French First Lady Brigitte Macron met German athletes and alpine environmentalists as they took part in the spouses program during the G7 summit in Germany.

The spouses of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French president Emmanuel Macron were snapped chatting with former German alpine ski racer Christian Neureuther and former German biathlete Miriam Neureuther in the sunshine at Elmau Alm alpine hut in the mountains near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Brigitte leant in to kiss Carrie on the cheek as the pair greeted each other and appeared friendly on Monday.

They were photographed alongside other spouses of the seven world leaders who are meeting at the Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, Germany for their annual gathering this week.

Brigitte, Carrie,  EU Council President’s wife Amelie Derbaudrenghien and German Chancellor’s wife Britta Ernst heard from athletes about summer training techniques for Olympic biathlon cross-country skiing.

They met with a local biathlon junior Olympic Training group during a demonstration of summer training technique for cross-country skiing close to Bavarian resort of Schloss Elmau castle.

They also listened to alpine environmentalist Till Rehm and Veronika Hierlmeier of the Bavarian species conservation centre about climate change, environmental pollution and insect deaths in the Alps.

Last year Carrie Johnson hosted spouses of the world leaders when the G7 summit was held in Cornwall.

World leaders and their spouses will be in Germany between June 26 and 28 for the G7 summit.

The overall message from the three-day G7 summit will be that sanctions are slowly working in degrading the Russian war machine, and will be stepped up if damage to the world’s wider economy can be contained.
