G2 Esports – one of the planet’s biggest esports organizations – has revealed the global launch of Red Aura, its original fantasy-action webcomic, which will debut on digital comics platform WEBTOON in English this Saturday. The 42-episode first season marks a huge expansion of the European organization’s media presence beyond traditional esports competition.
According to G2 Esports, the comic is “inspired by the ambition, achievement, and emotional journeys that have defined our journey over the past decade.” It’s safe to say that fans are overwhelmingly excited by the news.
The webcomic will launch worldwide under WEBTOON’s Originals label on June 6 after an initial release in Japan. It will feature an immediate release of 20 episodes. 15 chapters will be free, while five Fast Pass chapters will be premium. Following the initial drop, the series will transition to a weekly release schedule for the remainder of the season.
Red Aura originally debuted in Japan on LINE MANGA in October 2025, where it achieved notable success by reaching the number nine position in the platform’s ‘New Series’ category during its opening weekend. The English-language version is G2’s first foray into original intellectual property development.

The project outlines G2’s broader ambitions in multimedia content creation, with the organization now healthily positioned alongside traditional esports operations with original entertainment properties.
G2 COO Sabrina Ratih was all too aware of the strategic importance of this venture, stating in an interview that “expanding into original entertainment has been a major focus for G2, and Red Aura is only the beginning of what we want to build.”
The webcomic was developed specifically for vertical-scroll reading formats popular on mobile devices, with Ratih also saying that the series should resonate with people whether they’re fans of esports or not.
The production involved collaborations with KISAI Entertainment, the studio behind webcomic adaptations of Avatar: The Last Airbender, as well as Japanese Art Director Runbel, who worked to “create cool action panels that have never been seen before.”
Industry trend toward multimedia diversification
G2’s move into original content creation is very much on-trend, with numerous other Western esports organizations currently investing heavily in multimedia assets while looking to capture Eastern gaming markets.
G2 isn’t new to experimenting with new things, though, and has previously explored anime collaborations, including a capsule collection partnership with Solo Leveling that combined esports with anime and gaming.
Other major organizations have similarly integrated anime and manga elements into their brand identities. Team Liquid recently launched an anime collaboration with Bleach, while Sentinels unveiled a partnership with Haikyu. However, G2 appears to be the first major esports organization to develop completely original intellectual property rather than licensing existing franchises.
Production and creative development

The Red Aura production is a major creative undertaking for an esports organization that we usually associate with competitive gaming. The shonen-inspired series should see G2’s brand legacy translate neatly into digital entertainment – but it’s also important that the organization holds onto its core identity, one which is so distinctive.
G2 will also be hoping that WEBTOON’s platform global distribution capabilities expose their brand to audiences beyond traditional eSports viewership. The platform’s Originals label typically features professionally produced content with established creators and production teams.
The collaboration with KISAI Entertainment, meanwhile, brings proven webcomic adaptation experience to the project, while Runbel’s involvement as Art Director adds a certain Japanese creative expertise to the production process.
Red Aura’s launch on WEBTOON will be a big test of whether esports organizations can successfully monetize original entertainment content while building brand recognition in previously unchartered waters. The series debut coincides with Global Esports Industry Week 2026 taking place in Cologne, highlighting the industry’s continued evolution beyond competitive gaming.
