Tyson Fury recorded a routine victory over Mariusz Wach in Thailand today as he laid down a gauntlet for Anthony Joshua. The ‘Gypsy King’ was competing for the second time since ending his latest boxing retirement with a dominant decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April and Friday’s mysterious contest at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya came just 24 hours before Joshua makes his return against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, fighting for the first time since a serious car accident that claimed the lives of two close friends.
Fury cruised to victory in front of a small but spirited crowd, keeping Wach on the back foot from the first bell as he got his eye back in ahead of facing Joshua. Wach’s head was down as early as the first round, but he did well to see out seven of the scheduled ten rounds before the fight was waved off. The pressure is now on Joshua, who must beat Prenga in Jeddah on Saturday to set up a fight with Fury.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are on a collision course to finally fight later in 2026.
Arguably the biggest and certainly the most lucrative showdown in British boxing history looks likely to finally come to pass after so many years of frustration, near-misses and animosity.
Fury remained on track for that blockbuster clash by stopping Polish veteran Mariusz Wach in the seventh round of Friday’s mysterious non-televised main event in Thailand.
It was the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’s’ second bout since ending a latest 15-month retirement from the sport that followed his rematch defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, having seen off Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.

Tyson Fury has challenged Anthony Joshua to show the world “how big his balls are” and go through with their planned showdown.
The two British heavyweights have been on something of a collision course for some time, and are finally set to face off against one another in London later this year.
After Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds on Friday, all that stands in the way of that plan is Joshua’s meeting with Kristian Prenga on Saturday, which he must win in order to set up the Fury face-off.
Speaking after a routine victory over Wach, Fury suggested he doubted whether Joshua would go through with the planned fight.
“I got through my test tonight. Let’s see if (Joshua) gets through his test,” said the Gypsy King.

Boxing reporters on the ground are now reporting that 5pm BST is the most likely start time for Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach - that is 11pm local time.
It sounds like it will actually be the second fight on the card, rather than the first or the last.
Judging by a few videos doing the rounds on social media, it looks like the rain has been absolutely lashing down again in Pattaya, where there have been weather warnings, thunderstorms and flooding in recent days.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) have put up a special ‘METTA Humanitarian Belt’ for Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach today.
The WBC said that such a title was created to “recognise individuals whose humanitarian work and social commitment generate a positive impact beyond sports”.
They said it was “inspired by the Thai concept of ‘Metta’, which represents compassion, kindness, and selfless care for others, highlighting the power of boxing as a tool for social transformation”.
Fury has confirmed that money raised from the 1,500 ticket sales for the event will be donated to the Father Ray Foundation, a Thai charity that provides care and educational services to 850 disadvantaged children and students with disabilities.

Tyson Fury reiterated once again yesterday that he is not focusing on any long-awaited future super-fight with Anthony Joshua or overlooking the threat posed by Mariusz Wach.
The Gypsy King insists he will fight several more times this year as he looks to stay busy following that latest 15-month retirement from boxing.
“I’m getting sharper, fitter and stronger by the day,” he said.
“I’m not banking on any fight happening that might not happen. I want to keep busy, I’m a fighter.
“This year is the year of Tyson Fury staying busy. Whatever happens, I’m just going to stay busy throughout the year now.
“I’ve had the one fight in two years, I want to box his head off.
“If it goes a little bit sooner than that then happy days. This is a real fighting man – he’s fought everybody over the last two decades.

Tyson Fury tipped the scales at yesterday’s weigh-in at the Lay Beach Club in Pattaya at 18st 13lbs, which was 26lbs less than Mariusz Wach at 20st 11lbs.
It is the first time in 15 years - since the first of his three bouts with Derek Chisora in 2011 - that the 6ft 9in Fury has gone into a fight weighing less than his opponent.
He weighed three pounds more for his win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, while Wach was 17lbs lighter for his 10-round points defeat by Ukraine’s Viktor Vykhryst in Budapest in March.
“I’m Mr Slim now,” joked Fury at a very jovial weigh-in, during which he laughed and joked with Wach.

Tyson Fury was dominant if unspectacular on his latest comeback against the hard-hitting but limited Arslanbek Makhmudov, shaking off the inevitable ring rust after 15 months in retirement as he eased to a wide points triumph.
He will look to step things up another notch here against an easier opponent on paper who is nine years his senior - one who was stopped by Makhmudov in the sixth round in Montreal in 2022.
It is important that he sends equally as emphatic a message as Joshua, who is expected to make light work of the little-known Kristian Prenga 24 hours later in Riyadh.
Heavyweight gatekeeper Mariusz Wach has had his moments during a lengthy professional career that started in 2005 and has included brief forays into both kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA), most notably taking Wladimir Klitschko 12 rounds when unsuccessfully challenging for the unified heavyweight titles in Hamburg in 2012.
However, more than half of his 13 pro losses have come in the last 10 fights and he is now a long, long way past his best at 46.
We expect thoroughly one-way traffic and a likely stoppage, unless Fury is happy to dominate and get 10 more rounds in the bank without pushing too hard for the knockout.

Why is Tyson Fury fighting in Thailand?

Today’s fight with Mariusz Wach marks Tyson Fury’s first in Thailand and his first not to take place either in the UK or Saudi Arabia since the epic third instalment of his unforgettable trilogy against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas in October 2021.
The last time Fury fought in a country that wasn’t either the UK, USA or Saudi Arabia was his famous victory over Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, when he became the world heavyweight champion for the first time in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Fury trained for his comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov in Pattaya City, working alongside Robert McInnes at the ISS Boxing Club.
“I’ve been training here since December,” Fury told The Sun this week. “Great people, good place, give something back.
“I thought on a big show, I’d never had a proper fight, never had a big fight here, a boxing fight.”

We don’t know for sure the exact running order of today’s fight card in Pattaya, aside from the fact that Fury has claimed that his clash with Wach will be on first rather than last in another unusual move.
We’ll wait and see if that does indeed prove to be the case. If not, we could be looking at a later time for those ring walks than previously stated.
The second biggest bout on the bill is another heavyweight scrap between London’s Simon Ibekwe and German Daniel Baer, the former of whom has trained with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Lawrence Okolie in the past.

Why is Fury vs Wach not on TV?

In a move that is otherwise totally unheard of in modern boxing, Tyson Fury vs Mariusz Wach is not being broadcast live on television anywhere in the world.
Instead, Fury has said that exclusive footage from the fight will instead be shown on the third series of his hit Netflix reality show, ‘At Home with the Furys’.
There is no release date for that as yet, so it is uncertain when exactly it will be broadcast.
It is worth noting too that Netflix also have the broadcasting rights to a Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua super-fight, which remains unsigned but it is hoped will take place in the UK later in 2026.
