A north London neighbourhood is severely divided over a controversial low traffic scheme, with a ‘perceived conflict of interest’ from a councillor who lives on one of the ‘beneficiary roads’ having left some residents feeling that trust in the process ‘has been eroded’.
In 2023, Brent Council proposed to introduce a hyper-local traffic scheme in Queen’s Park, which is designed to reduce rush-hour traffic in the area. Since October of the same year, the local authority has been running a trial to determine its feasibility, which is set to conclude in April this year.
