Fury grows as Jedward refuse to curb anti-monarchy rants days after Queen's death

Anger is intensifying towards Jedward after the pop pair refuse to relent with their anti-monarchy crusade days after the Queen's death.

The Irish double act - who shot to fame on the X-Factor in 2009 - have peppered people's twitter timelines with political rants, sparking outrage after criticising the Royal family.

Blaming the British monarchy for 'oppressing' their country, twins John and Edward Grimes, 30, decided the time was right to educate the world, despite a ten-day period of mourning being announced.

On Sunday, as the Queen's coffin travelled from Balmoral to Edinburgh, they were back to remind people "in denial about Britain’s Imperialist past" that they "need to get a grip".

They earlier posted: "Hi Royalists - British Imperialism was the cause of the Irish famine and millions of deaths around the world. We mourn for them. Sincerely, Ireland."

Soon, they added: "Victims of colonisation are entitled to express how they feel! Beyond all the celebratory royal posts & propaganda the majority DGAF."

On Saturday, they caused a stir by tweeting: "Abolish the monarchy and give the people real democracy!"

They were first called insensitive on Thursday following the new the ailing Queen's health had taken a turn for the worst when their account tweeted: " Liz Truss must have done something on that visit to the Queen!"

Now, 'Abolish Jedward' is trending on Twitter after they insisted they won't stop making their point to their 666,000 followers.

The duo were dubbed 'talentless', 'obnoxious' and 'irrelevant' following the numerous outbursts.

Jedward, who also spoke up against anti-vaxxers during the Covid-19 pandemic, were told to "stop embarrassing" themselves with their "disrespectful" remarks.

Another said: "Whoever is babysitting these two clowns needs to be reprimanded," while a third added: "This is the time where 'children should be seen and not heard'."

One person chimed in: "I value Jedward's political insights about as much as I value their music and fashion sense."

King Charles III is set to make his first official visit to Northern Ireland on Tuesday, flying to Belfast and travel to Hillsborough Castle.

Managed by Louis Walsh, the duo would go on to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest twice, but would fail to bag the top prize both times.

They also had a successful pop career and appeared in Celebrity Big Brother in 2011.
