Bryce Stanfield's impact extended far beyond the football field. An outstanding student, he aspired to attend dental school after graduation, demonstrating his dedication to furthering his education. Additionally, he actively engaged with the community through Furman's Heller Service Corps Men of Distinction, where he spent his time reading to children in local schools and visiting pediatric patients at the Greenville Children's Hospital. His compassionate nature and commitment to service will be deeply missed.
During the previous season, Bryce played in all 13 games, contributing significantly to the team's success. He recorded 13 tackles, including four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. His exceptional performance played a pivotal role in helping the Paladins secure a 10-3 record and clinch the 2023 Southern Conference championship title.
Furman's Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, Jason Donnelly, remembered Bryce as a beautiful soul, a loving son, loyal friend, tremendous teammate, and an outstanding student. These words truly encapsulate the impact Bryce had on those around him. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of his fellow students, teammates, coaches, and the entire Furman community.
To honor Bryce's memory, Furman University held a private ceremony on Friday morning, where he was posthumously awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences, magna cum laude. His family, teammates, and coaches were all present to celebrate his achievements and pay tribute to a life well-lived.
