A taxi driver has been ordered to pay almost £3,000 after he destroyed an airport ticket machine. When Atif Amin, 49, was told by Glasgow Airport wardens that he needed to pay £4 for parking, he saw red.
Amin, from Muirhouse Park, Edinburgh, was adamant his disability parking badge allowed him free entry to the NCP cark park, but when told otherwise he repeatedly punched the payment machine before using a torch to smash the display screen. The father-of-two caused £2,700 worth of damage, reports Edinburgh Live.
Procurator fiscal depute Amber Feeney told Paisley Sheriff Court the incident took place at the NCP car park within Glasgow Airport around 5.20am on January 4 last year. Ms Feeney explained: "Witnesses were working in the NCP Main Office when the accused's car approached the drop-off and pick-up point and pressed the intercom button.
