Married At First Sight UK fans were left furious as the reality show brought the drama in Wednesday's episode as the group attended a dinner together.
The E4 reality show contestants met for the first time in the explosive scenes and during the episode things reached a limit for Whitney Hughes in her new marriage to Duka Cav.
Whitney burst into tears in a scene at the table as she shared a moment with Zoe before catching the eye of husband Duka Cav.
After being asked about her wedding by fellow contestants, she rolled her eyes and said: “It happened. The guy made us say, 'I do' but 'I do' is really intense...I was like...'Do I?' It was just a bit of a shock to the system.”
As Whitney spoke to her fellow contestants, she said: “I survived!” before desperately confessing she needed a drink, adding: “I'm going to sit here by myself.”
Later, Whitney stormed away from the group's dinner party while crying after hitting out at Duka's “fake” behaviour.
Duka was seen in the confessional room, seemingly nonplussed about the incident as he said: “I don't know what the issue is, or why she feels like that, but she hasn't opened up, so what else can I really do?”
Outside the dinner room, Whitney tearfully said: “Fake. F***ing fake. He's fake. I can't do it.
“I can't be fake. Other people have genuine people and I just have this fake person. Everyone keeps telling me, ‘try, try’. I can't.”
As the show aired, viewers took to Twitter to slam Whitney’s behaviour, accusing her of gaslighting her new husband.
One wrote: “Whitney just doesn’t like the fact that Duka gets more attention because plot twist… he’s actually a nice person.”
A second tweeted: “Whitney is a gaslighting piece of s*** and is borderline bullying Duka. If those "experts" had a shred of decency, they'd remove her from the show.”
A think wrote: “The British public to Whitney,” alongside a picture of Kermit the frog holding a book entitled ‘How to slap someone through the internet’.
Another added: “Honestly don’t know why Whitney got picked! She’s just not into the married vibe at all.”
Ahead of the episode airing, Whitney took to Instagram to share her side of the story, writing: “I'm always in two minds about whether or not I should speak up about what I'm experiencing but that has put me in an uncomfortable position in the past.
“Equally it's impossible to explain my side of things without bringing down others and that's not what I want to do.
“We're only two weeks in, a lot more will unfold in the next few weeks. One of the many things this experience has taught me is patience but whether or not you can change your opinion on me, it's never going to be ok to personally send me or others vile messages/comments.”
She continued: “I can't imagine doing that effects your life in a positive way, that energy could be used to show love to anyone you support.
“Putting all that aside I would like to say a massive thank you to the people reaching out to show support. It honestly means so much xo.”
