A goalkeeper has said he has 'fallen out of love' with football after he was sent off for confronting a fan who allegedly urinated in his water bottle.
Warrington Town's Tony Thompson said the incident at the game against Guiseley yesterday (Saturday) had 'knocked him sick'. The scores were level at 0-0 when he was sent off for squirting the fan behind the goal with the bottle after realising that it been filled with urine, CheshireLive reports.
The incident came in the 61st minute of the tie at Warrington Town's home ground Cantilever Park. It caused a lengthy stoppage in the second round fixture - which saw Warrington knocked out of the FA Trophy - which ended while players confronted fans behind the goal.
