Emmerdale fans have been left furious at Chas Dingle as she lashed out at her family and ran back into Al Chapman's arms. Viewers of the ITV soap are well aware that the character, played by Lucy Pargeter, has been having a sordid affair with her former enemy behind her husband Paddy's back.
Belle Dingle was the first to catch out the pair earlier this year but kept quiet when Chas agreed to stay away for Al. But she didn't stick to her word and following his return to the village last month, Chas' son Aaron then discovered her sordid secret and again, she made a vow to end things.
But last week the grieving character was disgusted to find out his mum was still seeing Al as he was the one who took her to hospital after she was injured in the horrifying windstorm. Aaron, played by Danny Miller, then blamed Chas for little sister Liv's death as she and her husband Vinny only left the house to babysit Chas' daughter Eve so Paddy could rush to the hospital.
This week, Chas was floored when she discovered her mum hadnt died as a result of her terminal cancer but had taken her own life. She was further riled upon discovering sister-in-law Moira was aware of her mother's plans to die before she became unable to look after herself as a result of the disease.
After fighting with Moira and Cain after banning the former from her mum's funeral, Chas left in a hurry to meet Al. He told her woman: "If things get too much, call me," and it wasn't long before they were back together again after she had a fallout with Paddy over her actions towards Moira and Cain.
When she met with Al, she complained about how her family don't care about her and requested they leave following the service. When Al said they could run away together whenever she wants, Chas replied: "Tomorrow works for me." As Al appeared surprised and asked if she was sure, she replied: "Why not? Cain doesn't give a damn about me, all he cares about is protecting his precious wife.
"Paddy's trying to sweep everything under the carpet, how I feel is the last thing on his mind. And Aaron (Dingle, Danny Miller), well, we both know he's going to hate me when he finds out what we're up to." Meanwhile, Cain was shown on-screen desperately trying to contact his sister while Paddy got his wife's dress ready for the double funeral of Faith and Liv and Aaron was seen struggling to write a eulogy for his sibling.
And it's fair to say that Emmerdale fans were deeply unimpressed by Chas' latest decision. @annieg446 said: "Has Chas been possessed she's just gone way OTT when she's only got herself to blame and that other useless article." @deedurkin33 fumed: "Chas has to be the most selfish person ever.. Get rid."
@justme_30_01 posted: "So sick of Chas running to Al at every opportunity and acting the victim. Really hope she's caught out publicly about being with him when Faith died and gets everything she deserves. And yes I know it's not real." @darciebean raged: "I've pretty much watched Emmerdale all my life but I can honestly say that if #Emmerdale doesn't get rid of Chas soon I'm going to have to stop watching. What a vile character she's become." @SusanGa75213985 added: "I have to stop watching this for a while cannot take more of Chas she has become the most vile woman on TV! Not happy with the storyline she is now worse than Al! #Emmerdale."
