Furious customers scramble to cancel subscriptions to Postcode Lottery following devastating blow

The People’s Postcode Lottery has increased their prices, and customers aren’t happy with it. Many received a letter in the post or e-mail to say their monthly subscription rate will be rising, costing them an extra £24 a year.

Customers who are currently paying £10 a month to subscribe to the postcode lottery will now see a price increase of a further £2, costing them £12 a month.

This is a £24 annual increase and will see people pay £144 a year as opposed to the previous price of £120.

In a letter sent out to subscribers, the People’s Postcode Lottery has said the change to customers' monthly subscription will be in effect for the May draws and onwards.

“It’s the first increase in almost 13 years. You don’t need to do anything, the change will be made automatically.

“As a result, we’ll be able to offer you an even better range of prizes while raising funds for the good causes you support. We hope you understand,” they wrote.

Angry subscribers have taken to Twitter to express their annoyance at the increase in monthly subscription with some even threatening to cancel their plan.

Taking to Twitter, one subscriber said they have lost him as a customer and he suspects “there will be lots more.”

Twitter user Salouuu said: “£12 a month to play @PostcodeLottery I don’t think so. Bye bye ”

Dan Hallas wrote on the social media platform saying: “20% rise for Postcode Lottery now. Another firm taking the p***, cancelled.”

Another social media user under the name Marsey Gordo expressed her frustration at the price hike: “They've just put their charges up for monthly payers, no say in the matter.”

Customer Robert has said he has packed in his monthly subscription already after seeing the price increase. "@PostcodeLottery just cancelled my direct debit won’t be paying the extra £2 per month.”

Another Twitter user called BrainphrozenC added: "Taking the p*** by charging an extra £2 for your tickets when there is a cost of living crisis going on".

Jackie also admitted she may cancel her subscription: “Only won books or £10, now prices have gone up, thinking of cancelling.”

However the May draws will also see the introduction of a brand new prize.

“Every week, players in one postcode will win a share of £1 million. This is in addition to the monthly Postcode Millions prize and the announcement of prize-winning postcodes every day,” they said.

They also announced that there were more than 8.7 million winners in 2022 and “this year there will be even more.”

An extra £29 million has been added to the prize pot from May to December, taking the total to £175 million.
