Today, the Winder, Georgia community is coming together to honor the lives of 14-year-old student Mason Schermerhorn and teacher Christina Irimi, who tragically lost their lives in a shooting at Appalachee High School just 10 days ago. The community is holding separate funeral services to remember these individuals.

Recent revelations shed light on the police response to the shooting. Barrow County officials released over 500 radio messages and 911 calls between emergency personnel in the aftermath of the tragic event. The recordings captured the chaos and panic that unfolded both inside and outside the high school.

The first call reporting the shooting came in at 10:22 a.m. Eastern Time, with authorities identifying the suspect as Colt by 10:24 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody unharmed. A poignant moment was captured in a tearful 911 call from the suspect's aunt, expressing her fears that her nephew was involved in the incident.

Prior to the shooting, Colt Gray had sent a cryptic text message to his mother, saying, 'I'm sorry, mom.' Concerned, his mother contacted the school to check on him, but unfortunately, authorities were unable to reach him in time due to a mix-up.

Colt Gray, who confessed to the attack, is facing four counts of felony murder and will be tried as an adult. His attorney, Alfonso Craft Jr., declined to comment when contacted.

These events have deeply impacted the Winder community, and the loss of Mason Schermerhorn, Christina Irimi, and the other victims will not be forgotten. As the community mourns, they also seek answers and justice in the wake of this tragedy.
