A woman who died after being hit by a train in Sligo has been described as an "adored mother" as her funeral details have emerged.
Jessica McLoughlin and her niece Rebecca McLoughlin were both hit by an Irish Rail train at Ballisodare, Co Sligo yesterday afternoon. The horror tragedy claimed mother of four Jessica’s life and saw Rebecca rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
A death notice posted online said that Jessica died “suddenly, following an accident” and that she is predeceased by her parents Peter and Annie.
The notice said she was the “adored mother” of four children and the “loving sister” of six siblings. Jessica is reposing at The Foley and McGowan Funeral Home, Market Yard, Sligo on Sunday from 5pm to 7pm.

Her funeral is then set to take place at St. Anne’s Church, Sligo on Monday at 11am with a burial afterwards in Sligo cemetery.
Three separate investigations have now been launched into the horror collision - by gardai, the Railway Accident Investigation Unit, and Irish Rails own internal examination.
In a heart-breaking post to social media Rebecca said "why couldn't it have been me. Oh why Jess. Why did they have to take you. Why couldn't it of been me. You have four beautiful kids left behind. You didn’t deserve this.”
Rebecca went on to say how she spent those last moments with Jessica, who was tragically declared dead at the train tracks.
“I'm glad that we got to spend those last moments together though and I'll not forget what I promised you. I’ll not take my back my word. I’m in bits here Jess."
The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the community, with local Sinn Fein TD Martin Kenny extending his sympathies. He said: “First and foremost, my thoughts are with those affected by this terrible incident."
