Fuming Porto fans hijack Instagram post after 'joke' Liverpool transfer move for Luis Diaz

Porto fans have been left frustrated as news emerged this morning that Liverpool are closing in on a £49m deal for Luis Diaz.

The Reds had been linked with the player throughout the window, but it was Tottenham Hotspur that made the first move.

However, with the possibility of signing him in the summer quickly slipping away, Liverpool opted to make their bid as they now face a race against time to complete the signing before Monday's transfer deadline.

Liverpool are looking to pay an initial fee of £37m with a further £12m in add-ons, despite the player having a £67m release clause in his contract.

News that the proposed deal is worth less than the expected £67m the club had hoped to receive for their star man has not gone down well with Porto fans.

Supporters have piled in on their latest Instagram post, as one fan said: "How can you let our best player go? Winning the league is now at risk."

Another said: "Luis Diaz, please stay. Or sell him for a decent value."

One questioned: "Selling Luis Diaz for 45m? How sad. Everything is going so well and as planned for us this season and now we throw in the towel?"

Fabio Pavao said: "Does the board know what they're doing? Luis Diaz for 45m? Really?"

Joao Pinto added: "Who are you going to get to replace Diaz? Are we going to be left without two wingers until the end of the season?"

Another commented: "One of the best players that has played at our club and league and you let him go, like that..."

Marco posted: "Selling the best player our league has had and one of the best wingers at a bargain price..."

Duarte Rodrigues replied: "Some sell worse players at 120m while we sell our best player for 45m..."

Another fan said "This is a joke..."
