Full waiver wire order at roster cut deadline: Where do the Vikings fall?

Cutdown day is upon us and the Minnesota Vikings have some work to do in order to get down to their 53-man roster. The deadline is at 3 pm central on Tuesday, August 29th.

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been active around this time both making cuts on his own roster, but also trying to add players via the trade market. He did it multiple times last season and has already traded Vederian Lowe to the New England Patriots.

If the Vikings want to add players off the waiver wire, they will be behind multiple teams. Where do they fall and what are the rules for all of the lists players can be on? Let’s break it all down.

Waivers rules

Any player with three or less vested years of NFL experience is subject to waivers. Any player waived after week three of the preseason starts will stay on waivers until noon central time on Wednesday, August 30th.

For a player to achieve an accrued season, they must have full-play status in a minimum of six games during an individual season.

Teams can make as many waiver claims as they want, but they are only awarded the player if they weren’t claimed by a team ahead of them.

Below is the waiver wire order which is initially determined by the 2023 NFL draft order.
