Figures released by UHY Hacker Young this week show that the number of pub companies calling their last orders jumped from 280 in 2021 to 512 last year. The report also detailed how bars have been handed rising energy bills and other overhead costs, leading to concerns over falling sales.
With inflation running riot, expenditure on drinks and meals have slouched - with rail strikes also preventing punters from travelling to city centres.
