Road closures have been announced for a major Ilkeston event which is one of the oldest of its kind across Europe. The annual Ilkeston Charter Fair will take over the town in October to celebrate its 770th year.
Thousands of visitors are expected for the event, which is older than Nottingham's Goose Fair, given that the charter in Ilkeston was granted by King Henry III in 1252. Erewash Borough Council has now confirmed details of road closures and parking schemes for residents during the festivities.
The fair takes place from Wednesday, October 19, until Saturday, October 22. Parking schemes for some residents will be suspended and some roads will be closed whilst the event takes place.
