Full list of postcodes hit by DPD delivery delays - see if your town is affected

Certain areas across the country will face delays in deliveries from DPD during the run-up to Christmas this year.

The parcel delivery giant blamed the delays to its next-day delivery service as a knock-on effect of industrial action taken by Royal Mail this week.

According to DPD, deliveries of parcels to the affected postcodes listed below will be delayed by between one and three days.

It comes after over 14,000 Royal Mail workers staged a strike last week in a dispute over pay, jobs and working conditions.

The walkout of members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) will continue this week with strikes planned for tomorrow and Thursday, December 15.

Further strikes will also be held across multiple days in the run-up to Christmas next week.

DPD is blaming Royal Mail for the delays (PA)

In a statement released by DPD, the delivery firm said the industrial action had affected the entire industry due to an increase in demand for alternative services to Royal Mail.

It said: “While the service is unaffected in most areas, we have today temporarily suspended next-day deliveries to around 5% of postcodes in the UK. The expected delays of 24 to 48 hours and the postcodes impacted are shown on our website.

"Where delays do occur, we update the parcel recipient directly where our customers have provided us with their contact details.

"Any delays at this time of year are hugely regrettable and while the underlying issues here are outside of our control, we would wish to reassure retailers and parcel recipients that our team is doing everything possible to minimise the impact on next-day deliveries."

The delays to its delivery services will be either be between one to three days and will affect around 44 areas of the UK with some areas experiencing different levels of delays.
