Full list of London bank closures as 66 Lloyds and Halifax branches are shuttered nationally

Lloyds closures include branches across London (Stefan Rousseau/PA)

Paternoster square in the heart of the City and Leadenhall Street are among the latest parts of London to lose a bank as Lloyds announces fresh plans to shut 66 branches nationally.

The closures will affect 48 branches under its own name and 18 under the Halifax brand. The company said visits to each one had fallen on average by 60% in the last five years and by up to 85% in some locations.

The cuts come as financial services firms continue to retreat from the UK high street, blaming the rise in popularity of mobile banking. But the scale of branch closures -- which has reached 405 across all banks -- has stoked worries about access to cash for consumers, and the ease with which small businesses can pay in takings.

There are 11 branches going in London. They will cease trading some time between October and January. Here’s the full list:

171 Manford Way, Chigwell;

1 Paternoster Square;

179 Earl’s Court Road;

113-116 Leadenhall Street;

Mid City Place High Holborn;

167-169 Edgware Road Paddington;

50 Notting Hill Gate;

110-113 Tottenham Court Road:

61 High Street, Ruislip;

942 Brighton Road, Purley;

8 Majestic Way, Mitcham.

Lloyds said all of the new branch locations announced for closure across the UK have at least one free to use ATM within half a mile and a Post Office within 1.1 miles.
