Pill and Easton, Withywood and Sea Mills have dropped into the Government's 'green' zone on the official website. This means these areas have a very low number of infections, with less than 10 per cent per 100,000 population.
Further afield, in South Gloucestershire, Mangotsfield and Kingswood North East also appear to be in the 'green' as the case rate drops in these locations. In the last seven days (of data), 112,705 people in the UK have tested positive, bringing the total to 22,025,925.
In the south west alone, 9.840 people have tested positive bringing the total here to 1,734,978. It's positive to see such places showing as 'green' on the government's map, however it doesn't mean we in the region or, indeed, the country are out of the woods yet.

It could be down to vaccines
So far in the UK, a total of 142,121,736 vaccinations have been given which could be the reason behind areas of the country suddenly appearing in the 'green' zone. The future of travel and testing centres
Just this week Bristol Live reported that Bristol Airport's Covid-19 testing site will close permanently today (Friday, April 29). In a tweet posted by the airport, it was announced that the Nuffield Health on-site testing facility will be closing for good from this Friday at 3:30pm.
Bristol Airport also advised passengers still needing a Covid-19 test in order to travel abroad to find an alternative testing provider, despite there now being a vast number of countries you can travel to even without a vaccine.
Places like mainland Spain, where you don't need to test or quarantine if you're fully vaccinated, the Balearic Islands (where you must present a health check form) and the Canary Islands (where there are either no special measures or you need to present a health control form and proof of full vaccination or natural recovery from Covid), all have their own rules when it comes to travelling, so it's worth checking before you book your trip.
