The Ashfield Independents will be the only party putting up a candidate for all of the seats available on Ashfield District Council in upcoming elections. Voters will have the chance to elect the next 35 members of Ashfield District Council, which is currently led by the Ashfield Independents.
The 2019 election saw the Ashfield Independents winning 30 of the 35 seats available and the party will be fielding 35 candidates ahead of the May 4 election this year. The Ashfield Independents first took control of Ashfield District Council in 2018 after a vote of no confidence in the Labour leadership.
The vote came after two Labour councillors, Lee Anderson and Chris Baron, left the party to join the Conservatives. Below are the candidates standing in each of the 20 wards on Ashfield District Council this year.
