The finish line has been crossed nearly 50,000 times and the 2023 London Marathon is now in the record books.
More specifically, the Guinness World Record books, as a total of 45 new records were set on a historic (and fittingly damp) day in London. 23-year-old Kenyan star Kelvin Kiptum came out on top in the men's run, managing a phenomenal two hours, one minutes and 25 seconds.
Although he initially looked to have missed out on beating legendary compatriot Eliud Kipchoge's all-time London Marathon record, it was soon confirmed that this year's winner had indeed made history. That was perhaps the most orthodox new record, with everything from the fastest runner dressed as a three-dimensional aircraft to most underpants worn during a marathon being set.
